Snacks from Samoa
Samoan snacking is panikeke, fluffy fried bananas or dough, and fa'apapa, coconut bread. Koko rice, cocoa-rice porridge, is a cup. Fa'ausi, caramelized coconut-sago baked in leaves. Palusami is a meal. The snack is fried dough and coconut bread, plus a koko Samoa drink that is not a Swiss tablet.

Panikeke come out of oil still steaming. Fa’apapa is coconut bread you can take on a bus. Koko rice is cocoa and rice in a bowl, a snack that tastes like the plantation, not like a cafe mocha. Fa’ausi is leaf and caramelized coconut, a Sunday sweet.
